Solo Mio (2026)
Look, I'll be straight with you - romantic comedies aren't exactly my thing. I'm more of a "guy fights aliens in space" kind of viewer. But Solo Mio actually worked better than I expected, even if I'm not the target audience here.
The premise is solid enough - dude gets ditched at the altar, decides to take the honeymoon trip solo through Italy anyway. Matt's journey from heartbroken mess to finding himself (and obviously finding love again) hits all the expected beats, but the Italian scenery is gorgeous and keeps things visually interesting. The food porn alone is worth watching. When he meets Gia, you can see where it's heading from a mile away, but the leads have decent chemistry and the culture clash stuff provides some genuine laughs.
The 96-minute runtime keeps things moving without overstaying its welcome. From what I can tell, audiences are digging it (7.1 rating suggests people are having a good time), and honestly, if you're into this genre, you'll probably enjoy the ride. It's comfort food cinema - predictable but satisfying, like a good plate of pasta.
Not gonna lie, I'd rather rewatch The Thing, but my wife would probably love this one.
