Man, this movie is rough. I mean really rough. The first Mortal Kombat from '95 wasn't exactly Citizen Kane, but it had this cheesy charm and some decent fights. Annihilation feels like they took everything that worked in the first one and threw it out the window. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is painful, and somehow the effects look worse than the original despite being made two years later.

But here's the thing - I still had fun with it. Yeah, it's objectively terrible, but if you're looking for mindless action with ridiculous fight scenes and over-the-top fatalities, it delivers on that front. The whole "six days to save Earth" plot is pure nonsense, but watching Liu Kang turn into a dragon and fight a giant four-armed monster? That's exactly the kind of stupid I signed up for. It's like watching a really expensive B-movie adaptation of a video game, which is basically what it is.

The 4.5 rating tells you everything you need to know about the quality here. Most people hated this thing, and I get why. It's a mess of a movie that feels rushed and cheap. But sometimes you just want to watch people punch each other with magic powers for 95 minutes.

This is so bad it's almost good, but mostly just bad.
