How to Make a Killing (2026)

Dir: John Patton FordRuntime: 1h 45m

Look, comedy-thriller isn't exactly my wheelhouse, but this one actually worked for me better than I expected. The premise is pretty straightforward - working class guy finds out he's from money and decides to bump off his rich relatives to get what's "his." What kept me watching was how they played it - not full dark comedy, not straight thriller, but this weird middle ground that somehow clicks.

Becket's got this blue-collar charm that makes you root for him even when he's doing absolutely terrible things. The family he's going after are such pompous jerks that you're almost cheering for their demise. The kills are creative without being too over-the-top, and there's enough actual suspense to keep the thriller side alive. At 105 minutes it doesn't overstay its welcome either.

The public seems to be digging it with a 7.1 rating, and I can see why. It's not groundbreaking stuff, but it's executed well enough that even someone like me who usually skips comedies had a decent time with it. The thriller elements definitely help sell it.

A surprisingly entertaining dark comedy that doesn't forget to bring actual thrills.
